REPAIR KIT:

The expedition will pass through some very isolated and uninhabited areas. For most of the journey, the closest bike shop will be over 2000 kms away. An extensive repair kit is essential!

Trailer generously supplied by Island Cycle Tours (Tasmania) - check out the cycling tours they offer around Tasmania here. CorndogMTB has supplied a high-precision cycle computer, as well as several lights for safe riding in the dark (and to blind crocodiles) - check out there awesome gear here. Sea to Summit has provided front panniers - essential to carry the extra water and food needed during the hot, dry, isolated stretches of the outback. These guys have just about anything you could ever want to help you get to where you want - see what I mean! Cyclingo (South Hobart, Tasmania) has also assisted by offering discounted rates on other bike gear.


CLOTHING:
Icebreaker merino has supplied most of the clothing for the expedition. This super-fine gear is lightweight whilst still being warm, is made of natural fibres - making it very breathable, and is odour-resistant - meaning less frequent washing! Everybody should own at least one piece of Icebreaker! Check it out here. Snowgum has also supplied some clothing, in the form of cool-max tops and a Gore-Tex Paclite jacket.

24th August - HUGE CELEBRATIONS AS OZBYBIKE RETURNS HOME: After 18 months and 27,147 kms of pedalling, an emotional, exhausted and thirsty cyclist rolled into Hobart on Wednesday to a warm welcome, a warm pub, and a few (well-deserved) cold beers. In June this year the epic journey made history by becoming the first cycling expedition ever to have successfully reached all of Australia's 7 extremes - Congratulations Anthony!
